The bright and buzzy restaurant has a modern dining room decorated with fairy lights, blue velvet chairs and crisp linens, and the convivial atmosphere is a hit with local curry aficionados. The kitchen at Tavistock Tandoori cooks up traditional halal Indian and Bengali fare, and we recommend the Prawn Kurma Kashmiri cooked with lychees and cream; the Chicken Dhansak in a sweet and sour lentil sauce; and the Lamb Tikka marinated in yoghurt and spices barbecued in the clay oven. The restaurant has a fully stocked bar with lager on tap.

We went for a midweek dinner, early in the evening. It was quiet when we arrived, but filled up very quickly and was full by half 7. The tables are a little too close together, but there is a good atmosphere when it is full. The food was excellent, with a varied menu and excellently priced. It arrived reasonably quickly, and the staff were very helpful and although I had to get their attention, they came over very quickly and dealt with any problems.
We visited Tavistock Tandoori on a Friday evening for business. When we arrived at 8pm the restaurant was v quiet but soon filled up. The food was excellent and the service was good. Huge variety and very cheap for central London. Would visit again,
The food at Tavistock Tandoori was actually delicious - far better than we had expected. The service was a bit 'pah' - the waiter took our order and served our food while either talking to other waiters or looking elsewhere. It didn't matter though - the food was delivered promptly and without any problems.
Tavistock Tandoori is perfectly pleasant, welcoming and adequate, rather than stunning. There are better indians in London but I haven't found one within walking distance of Kings Cross yet. It is unbelieveably cheap: £4.75 for passable main courses. My main was a bit too buttery for my liking but otherwise good. On the evening I was there it was full of tables for 1, but even then the atmosphere somehow was fine. I was in a suit, working and plainly on business but wasn't offered a receipt
Tavistock Tandoori really is a hidden gem in the heart of London.Waiter was extremely friendly. Would definitely recommend this place - authentic Indian food with huge portions :-) NB: if you book via toptable for lunch, you are not offered the lunch deals..Don't know if this applies to dinner offers
