Good food and very tasty but not a fan of the thali style. Had the recommended menu for 2 which was nice but too many small dishes which was a bit unsatisfying. And the full plate menus are too pricey at £15 for a curry. A shame because the food is really good.
Hop & Spice, Balham. Service was superb; attentive, friendly staff. Table water offered as standard - no charge. We had the May set menu which was excellent value for money we even took a doggy bag home! We were given the option of swapping some dishes with those off the a la carte menu. Highlights were lamb & potato cakes, beef curry & pea & paneer masala. Lots of wonderful beers to choose from & wine by the glass or bottle also. Amazing hidden gem. I'm already planning my next visit
Great example of Sri Lankan cuisine, and finely accompanied by a Lion lager. We had the thali for 2 people, choosing a selection of 6 from the menu, which made for a tapas like feel to the meal. All were excellent.
Great food, great service, would definitely go again!
I've been working my way around Balham restaurants lately and finally made it to Hop and Spice. It has a lovely intimate interior; small tables designed for sharing food. The food was great; Sri Lankan, very nice indeed. Almost 'healthy curry' type food if you were to label it. I will be back!
