Seven streets lead from the Dial; Main shopping streets are Earlham St, Monmouth and Shorts Gardens. Neal Street does not run directly from the Dial but also has many great boutiques and shops. Thomas Neal, a property speculator created the design of seven streets running off in 1690. Neal's Yard is named after him and today is home to an array of new age shops plus homeopathic remedy stores.
