1 Lombard Street Brasserie

About 1 Lombard Street Brasserie

Beautifully set within a Grade II Listed former banking hall, 1 Lombard Street Brasserie is a restaurant set to impress. The spacious neo-classical surroundings provide a bright, airy alternative to the often dark pubs of the City of London with light flooding in through the Pietro Agostini-designed dome skylights, soaring 20 feet overhead, making 1 Lombard Street as much a place to enjoy your surroundings, as to enjoy your food. This is truly one of the most stunning restaurants in the City of London. The ever-changing, seasonal modern European menu is actually a combination of classic and modern with more than a touch of British favourites, all incorporating specially-sourced and organic ingredients. The stunning wine list is global in scope with more than a dozen available by the glass – perfect for lunch – and prices range from recession-busting, to full tilt bonus level. 1 Lombard Street Brasserie restaurant is a thriving City institution.

We went to 1 lombard Street Brasserie for a Friday dinner. Overall a very good experience - pleasant ambience, delicious food (I had the best swordfish ever), outstanding service. A very, very good value wit TT offer. Will definitely be going back.

1 Lombard Street, London is one of the nicest places to have a relaxing dinner at. Its based in the city and therefore less crowded on the weekends. The set menu offers delicious fare and the chef's appetiser is really good. Try the fricasse of chicken - it melts in your mouth! service is of good standards and the wine list is good too. They could do a bit better on the dessert options.

Unfortunately the meal was overshadowed by the 'wine incident'. We chose a £23 bottle of Sauvignon, but when the bill came we noticed we had been charged for a completely different wine which was £35. When I spoke to the waitor about this he said 'There is nothing I can do, this was the wine you had. You didn't order the other wine from me, if you had I'd have told you not to as it is cooking wine.' A £23 bottle of cooking wine? No adjustment was made to the bill and we left feeling conned!
