Antony's

About Antony's

Finding this intimate, romantic restaurant perched on the fringes of Notting Hill will give you the insider’s edge among your mates. They’ll want to know how you discovered it, and we won’t tell. Antony’s is tiny, but with an enormously friendly welcome. The scarlet exterior gives way to a cool interior – muted taupe walls, starchy table linens, original artwork. Once you’re seated and enjoying a Polish vodka, you’ll relax into the informal ambience. Downstairs the DJ will be knocking out the soul and classic tunes in the wine bar. Authentic Polish and middle European dishes intermingle with straightforward steaks and such and include starter of pierogi (meat-stuffed dumplings), main of hunters lamb, and dessert of baked apples with ground cinnamon with vanilla ice cream.

Antony's in London is an odd place - the decor is fine, if a little eccentric and the lady of the house was the only one visible throughout. Borshz was very good, mains of goulash were ok but not great. Ordered one with rice and one with potato and got both with potato. The wine list is reasonable but they didn't have my choice. Her suggested alternative was fine. All in all, not bad but not as good as it could have been with just a little more attention to detail.

A fun atmosphere with an eclectic group of fellow diners. The food is good and we have been many times before. An interesting night out!

Our second visit to Antony's - starting with the positives and sticking with the Polish options the food was very good. Ambience charming. The not so positive aspects is that the owner seems unengaged with the process of welcoming her customers. The service was woeful and the milk for my cappachino was off. Apparently the peppermint tea was pretty grim too. Such a shame as this could be a gem of a local restaurant.

Lovely little restaurant - visited last a couple of years ago. Felt the menu was a little less authentic than previously, with some more non-Polish options, and the amazing selection of vodkas was no longer listed. However, they still have some vodka treats if you ask for them. The food was good, although not outstanding for the price. As before the service was friendly and the atmosphere intimate. Would recommend - but stick to the Polish options and try the cherry or honey vodka to finish.

Antony's, London: Good restaurant for reliable food. We ordered pierogi, with delicious chopped fried onion on top, and potato pancakes with tender goulash. I think the menu could however be improved by removing all reference to non-Polish cuisine, such as lasagne and other Italian food. Service was wonderful from a young waitress who could not help us enough, but was clearly and uncomfortably overseen by a more elderly lady with a strict grip, including a mopping of the floor in front of diners
