Toptable says about Chez Gerard
What a location! What a space! Chez Gerard in Covent Garden makes full use of its bright, light piazza setting, with a lovely arching conservatory dining room, terrace and outdoor seating with heaters to extend the nice weather for as long as we can stand it. This is a great place for meeting
mates before excursions to shops, theatre, cinema, or the famous Covent Garden Opera directly opposite. It's also perfect for reviving yourselves after your exertions. See and be seen here, with a perfect view from above the street madness below. The menu is French, mes amis, with a selection of
excellent steaks with equally excellent frites. There are also traditional French brasserie dishes like confit of duck as as fish and vegetarian dishes. We like their tarte tatin with vanilla ice cream very much indeed.

Chez Gerard was a fantastically ambient place to dine for lunch. Great location. Fantastic food. Good value (for London). Only criticism on the restaurant was the initial greeting when we arrived by the lady manager on the desk was rather frosty and dismissive, but the other staff serving were fantastic.
Chez Gerard is in a lovely location. I like the the terrace, must be lovely on a warm evening. The food was pleasant, the staff is friendly but the waiter took the wrong order, so we had to wait longer than expected. Nonetheless we had a good evening.
The tables outside on the terrace are lovely on a bright dry day.
Chez Gerald Covent Garden: Had snails in garlic butter & onion soup for starters, the snails were a little plain but soup excellent; bread/fresh butter were of high quality; mains were Onglet (french steak) for me and duck confit for husband - I highly recommend the steak - juicy & smoky, but husband got lamb instead cos they made a mistake, they were nice about it though! Desserts - apply tart with creme fraiche (amazing), bitter choc fondant excellent, too. Service great - would go again!
A very enjoyable occasion with a good menu. The location is also a big plus with the usual Covent Garden ambience.
