The Narrow

About The Narrow

Tucked away in London's Limehouse in the East End, this buzzy little gastropub has a rich history and a robust menu filled with old-fashioned and new-fangled British favourites. Originally built as a Dock Master's house in 1905, The Narrow is set right on the banks of the Thames in what is now a grade II listed building, and the softly coloured and sympathetic décor chosen by Gordon Ramsay's gastropub mod squad has returned the building to its former glory. The kitchen has also been Ramsay-fied, so that diners can choose between pub classics like hake, chips and mushy peas, or more refined main meals like River Eve mussels steamed in cider and herbs with crab salad and toasted crab sandwich. Like any pub worth its salt, The Narrow also serves a selection of real ales, draft beers and ciders, all the better to enjoy with potted salt beef with pickles, or a Scotch duck egg with HP sauce.

Went there because it's one of the GR restaurant but found the food quality was just ordinary and that was a little disappointing. The service is a little of the poor side especially we have to ask a few times to get our bills in the end.

We went to the Narrow for Burn's night so they had a Scottish set menu on. The service and food were both great, we had a really nice evening with friends and would definitely return to try the full menu.

Food good, small portions, let down by confused and slow service. I went with my girlfriend for a celebratory meal. We waited 20 mins to be given menu's - no-one returned for another 15 mins to take our order and then we were told they had given us the wrong menu for the top table offer. The service then momentarily improved slightly whilst enjoying small portioned but well cooked food, only to be let down again when we were overcharged on our bill for things we hadn't had. Shame really...

Have been lots of times to The Narrow and always enjoyed it. Last night the service was excellent but my steak was incredibly tough, would not chose the steak there again, however it wasn't enough to put me off going again.
