Cubana

About Cubana

Cubana is a discovery place. Definitely not just another overpriced chain-run theme bar, Cubana is a genuine Cuban-Latino bar-restaurant with some of London's best fresh, tropical fruit cocktails - and they also offer surprisingly tasty food based on recipes from pre-revolutionary cookbooks prepared from fresh, free-range ingredients at very reasonable prices. Cubana's signature dish is Pollo Criollo - free-range chicken sautéed in fresh orange, garlic, onions and sherry, served with fried plantain and black bean rice. Prime Scotch char-grilled sirloin steak marinated Cuba-style, with the trimmings. There is also a great selection of tapas, including spicy crab cakes with home-made mango / chilli salsa and lush desserts like home-made coconut flan with a scoop of cool coconut ice cream. Please note that Cubana does not take bookings for groups of more than 6 people through toptable.

Cubana on Lower Marsh is a cosy little spot and well placed for a pre or post theatre nibble. This was a first visit after having heard good things and we were not disappointed. The menu is varied enough to give a good choice without trying to do too much and nothing well. Not being on a TT offer wasn't a problem as the food is extremely good value without the sneaky scrimping on portion size that can accompany lower prices in other establishments. Worth a visit but maybe not for a romantic date

Cubana, just next to London's Waterloo Station and the Old Vic, is a small informal and multi levelled bar and restaurant serving 'traditional' Cuban food. We spurned the good value pre theatre menu to have two sharing platters, plus a bonus bowl of black beans. It was unusual, and delicious. Cocktails looked good value but we opted for wine instead. Great value and fun.

We had a great night at Cubana (waterloo) but if you're wanting to have a proper catch up with friends it can be a bit loud. But the food was excellent and we did have a good time.

I loved this place! We ordered veggie food and it was great. The spanish omlette, potato brava, and falafell were all great! Be sure to try their home made chili and mayo sauces they were awesome.
