St John's Tavern

About St John's Tavern

St John’s Tavern is an iconic London pub in Archway that has been lovingly restored at the hands of English Heritage, and a stellar British menu that delights locals and tourists alike. With a theatrical dining room and a cosy front bar serving everything from draught ales and Scotch eggs to ciders and charcuterie – this is about as British as it gets. Spacious with high ceilings, the dining room at St John’s Tavern has dark green walls covered with vintage memorabilia and artworks, and the kitchen sources seasonal British produce from local farms and sustainable sources. Everything is made on the premises, and the menu includes everything from roast chicken and fish and chips to jellied pig’s head on toast. The atmosphere here is easy and convivial -in a nutshell it’s as wonderful as the food. Offering an authentic British dining experience in north London, St John’s Tavern is an Archway favourite.

We arrived late due to snow at St Johns Tavern, Archway, unfortunately the table was not ready as it's previous occupants had still not left, after a 15 minute wait, sat comfortably by the open fire, (we were also 15 mins late so 30 in total) we were shown to our table. The manager was extremely apologetic and offered us free bread and olives for our troubles. The food and wine as always here is very good, waiters are friendly and attentive, this being our sixth visit, I would highly recommend.

St John's Tavern, London. Good rump steak, if a little pricey.

1st vivist to the St John's Tavern in Archway - what a find! We ate in the restaurant which has a great atmosphere despite it's ceiling height and is cleverly decorated. Staff were a perfect balance of relaxed, efficient and attentive without you left feeling rushed. Between the two of us we had soup and fishcakes to start and halloumi and steak for mains. All the dishes were excellent - tasty, great quality ingedients and very well presented. The rump steak particularly was outstanding. Thank u
