Ubon

Nobu spelt backwards. If you can't get a table at the west end version you'll be perfectly happy here. The views are impressive, giving it a bit of an edge for a flashy dinner. The Japanese cuisine is glorious (the black cod is famous for a reason) and service is too wonderful to be true. We nearly started crying at the beauty of it all.

Ubon gets as many rave reviews as its big sister, Nobu, which is of course its name spelt backward. While customers argue over whether you really get value for money here (set lunch is a snip at around 21 to around 31), the selling point has to be the breathtaking Thames views from every corner, including the fabulous sushi bar. The restaurant has its own dedicated entrance next to the Four Seasons hotel and its own lift.

Based in Canary Wharf, Ubon is the second London venture of the celebrated Nobu team. As well as comprising existing Nobu classics, such as the 'New Style' Sashimi, the Toro Tartar with Caviar, and the now legendary Black Cod with Miso, the menu also features selected dishes geared to a quicker style of service. These include the Nobu Bento Box and a selection of Sushi Lunches. For those with a more leisurely lifestyle, Ubon also offers a tasting menu, available at lunch and dinner. With Ubon's fabulous décor - the fourth floor restaurant has continuous wall-to-ceiling windows, giving diners spectacular panoramic views of the City of London - a dining experience at this restaurant guarantees a treat for all the senses.
