Toptable says about Baltic

With its glass atrium, high ceilings and white walls, Baltic has a light, open, spacious feel. The warm, neutral colours and pale wooden beams give the place a natural, organic feel. At this Waterloo restaurant Jan Woroniecki of Wodka and Chez Kristof fame offers a selection of hearty Eastern European dishes. Give your gullet an an Eastern bloc party with dishes like lamb goulash, haunch of venison with honey roasted pears and sour cherries and steamed mussels with bacon and beer. The bar boasts over 35 different flavours of Polish and Russian vodka as well as wine and bar food. The other great draw is the jazz - on Sunday nights Baltic plays host to established and up coming artists.

Had dinner at Baltic last night and the food was really good. It started to get busy around 9pm and the waiting staff were obviously running around trying to look after so many people. That meant service ended up being a bit rushed but overall was friendly. The bar is a great place to have drinks in pre-dinner but forget about trying to get back in afterwards as it is always packed.

I love the blinis at Baltic. Slighlty odd that you can't order one course from the set menu - we had to have pudding or we'd have been charged the whole set menu fee. Still we had a good meal. I had the goats chess and beetroot salad which I'd recommend.

The Baltic is a lovely restaurant for lunch - very bright and open with high ceilings and a glass roof. The food is unusual, maybe we didnt make the best choice to showcase the food but it was fine. Staff and service was good.

Went on a Monday night and whilst quiet to start with, soon filled out and the main restaurant and bar had a great lively vibe. In current credit crunch times this was impressive! Went for the pre-theatre 3 courses, which was great value for money - food was great. One of the starters wasn't available - odd for a small set menu - but didn't bother me as alternative suggested from the A La Carte was delicious. Will definitely be going back.
