The Rosendale
About The Rosendale
A handsome local public house and restaurant, The Rosendale is located in the attractive London neighbourhood of West Dulwich. Owned by Renaissance Pubs, the small scale brand behind popular venues such as The Abbeville in Clapham, The Rosendale has been given a transformative facelift inside and out. So the bar/dining room now boasts cool blue-grey wood panelling, vintage furnishings and touches of London history including a huge digital reprint of a Medieval map of the city used as wallpaper. Outside The Rosendale, guests will discover three unique al fresco spaces – the cosmopolitan terrace area at the front, the hidden gem that is the side garden and the glorious rear garden (including a children’s play area) laying claim to being one of the finest in South London. At the bar, a wide selection of wines come by the glass and bottle, numerous lagers and ales are on tap and in bottle while a handful of cocktails and several specialty spirits are also available. Taking its lead from traditional pub fayre, The Rosendale’s menu is nonetheless sophisticated, making use of seasonal ingredients in both hearty a la carte options and bar meals.

A good meal with friendly and efficient service Their 2012 half price on food offer a real bargain
The Rosendale is a mediocre venue, not fulfilling it's potential. The staff were disinterested and service was adequate at best. The food was average and nothing more. Might pop in if I was passing and hungry, but would not make the effort to return.
Probably a better place to go in the summer as felt a bit empty and soulless on a Friday night in January. Food, service and price was ok, but nothing to rave about. Would recommend if you're in the area, but not if you have to make an effort.
We went to The Rosendale in West Dulwich on a lazy Sunday afternoon + found it populated with young families. It has a convivial atmosphere, without really being restaurant or pub - a pleasant morphing of the two. I had Sea Trout Gravadlax (which was stunning on the plate and fresh and luxurious in the mouth), followed by Lamb Shank (which was stewed to perfection in its rich gravy and perfectly combined with mash containing kale + some small carrots which still retained much of their crunch)
the venue is nice but the food and service is always just short of the mark. a shame
