Situated in the heart of London’s West End and directly opposite Eros on Piccadilly Circus, The Criterion restaurant has been serving up fine food and wine to London’s dining elite since 1873. Recently relaunched by new owners, this opulent eatery is now brilliantly restored to its former glory. A well-dressed crowd gathers beneath the Criterion’s gilded ceilings, grand windows and imposing arches. The bar, decked out in red velvet, is equally glamorous but the wine list is not outrageously priced, with several reasonable by-the-glass options. The Criterion offers a classic European menu, with top quality ingredients cooked simply and presented with flair. We recommend the pork loin and belly with black pudding and pea purée; the delicious ostrich fillet; and the subtle vanilla panna cotta with rhubarb. For a decadent dinner, a pre-theatre supper or a stylish meal at any time, you can’t go wrong at the Criterion.

Excellent meal at the Criterion Restaurant. The staff were attentive but not over-attentive, food was great and the actual restaurant was beautiful. We will definitely be going again.
The good; quick food service, seated near discrete & volume controlled couple, yummy bread refreshed & delightful female singer & piano player & petite fours arrived without coffee. The bad; the wine arrived after starter & main, and was chased on both occasions, seat a little too close if you find yourself next to a louder couple, which would be a nightmare! The good...setting divine & historic. £97 fo 2 on set menu with wine.
Criterion restaurant at picadelly circus was amazing! Very posh, lovely and hot food, great service ;) Will definitely go there again. Great deal for This gorgeous/romantic Restsurant!
Starters and Mains were really good, dessert Creme Brulee was a bit disppointing, service is good.
We don't often have lunch but after this enjoyable visit might well make this more of a habit. The service from the Criterion staff was excellent and the fish stew was outstanding. The only negative was the low temperature (it was freezing outside and the massive volume of the restaurant below the beautiful ceiling suffered from that) but overall it was a wonderful experience.
