Su Sazzagoni

About Su Sazzagoni

Located close to Victoria Park, Su Sazzagoni is a relaxed neighbourhood restaurant that has brought the best of Sardinian cuisine to the heart of South Hackney. Inside, the exposed brickwork, light wood and low-hanging lights create a comfortable, family-friendly setting for any occasion. The menu changes at least once a week to incorporate the freshest seasonal ingredients and the chefs use traditional recipes to create authentic Sardinian fare. Popular dishes include rib-eye steak with garlic and parsley; pappardelle with wild boar ragu; and salsiccia sarda - a home-made aromatic sausage served with mushrooms and new potatoes. If you love seafood, don’t miss the linguine with crab or the gnocchi with prawns, cherry tomatoes, garlic and chilli – they’re both delicious!

I am a huge fan of this, a great local restaurant of ours. That said last Friday was not so great. Table not ready when we arrived (I don't think we were expected) so we had to wait for quite a while, quite long waits for the food and some portions pretty small (e.g. my squid starter which had a lot of sald but very little squid). It's a shame - popularity (deserved) can start to impact on performance and I just felt Friday was not on a par with normal. That said they are always really friendly.

Su Sazzagoni, London E9. Sardinian restaurant; Italian staff, friendly, knowledgeable, attentive. Lively atmosphere. Food took a little too long to arrive. Balsamic vinegar and oil were put on the table with tasty bread rolls. Buffolo Mozzarella with asparagus was disappointingly tough. Mains, a Sardinian pasta with sausage was delicious but ravioli with spinach and ricotta was average and rather dull. Tables were long and shared; prefer separate tables. However, would visit again.

Su Sazzagoni, a local Sardinian bistrot just north of Victoria Park, yards from the Empress pub for one's aperitif. An informal atmosphere, friendly careful service. Beautifully presented antipasti (shared between two, one plate was perfect), good bread, a wonderful Cannonau di Sardegna Riserva red wine, and faultlessly executed and presented main courses: rabbit and mixed pork/beef meatballs in our case. Perfectly steamed spinach with the lightest touch of garlic. A quiet triumph.
