Toptable says about Sheraz

Outside of Asia itself there's nowhere more famous to enjoy a curry than East London's Brick Lane, home to the Sheraz Bangla Lounge. Sheraz is one of many Indian and Bangladeshi restaurants on this famous street but it's undoubtedly one of the best. With its simple and classic décor, the ambience is pure relaxation making Sheraz an escape from the pavement pounding masses of Banglatown and just the place in which to enjoy delicious food. A seemingly neverending menu is packed with well known and unusual Indian and Bengali dishes to suit all tastes from Tandoori favourites to mouthwatering marinated meats and vegetarian dishes.

Sheraz Bangla Lounge was a satisfactory, relatively cheap night out. The food was tasty, although I was a little disappointed by the paneer. The service varied from being somewhat overkeen at the beginning (asked 3 times for our drinks order by 3 different waiters within 90 seconds of sitting down) to being totally abandoned when a large party came in towards the end of our meal with a table arrangement that led to us being boxed in by the new arrivals. Ok, but probably would not return soon.

Sheraz Bangla is a standard mid-range Brick Lane curry house: starters and vegetarian dishes are more exciting than then mains; service is rapid and friendly; prices are low. Altogether very pleasant.

£9.95 menu is good value at Bangla - both had mixed kebab starter which was OK, main course chicken vindaloo (tasty) and chicken sizzler (really good) one pilau rice to share, one garlic naan and one glass of wine and one beer. Result! Lacking in atmosphere but great value and would return.

We enjoyed an evening meal at the Sheraz Bangla Lounge on 15/03/09. Having found Brick \Lane very hit n miss in recent years we're delighted to have found somewhere that serves delicious food at a bargain price. The service was attentive, but not intrusive, and we were treated to a few freebies - in fact our 10 year old's meal worked out to be more or less free because of this. Will definitely be back!

The restaurant has been refurbished, but the loos are still work in progress. Probably the worst curry that we have ever eaten and that is pretty dire for brick lane the home of curry in London. The ambience is a flat screen TV on the wall of the restaurant, so if you like watching Bollywood whilst eating curry? then this is for you.The five courses included a rice course and a nan bread course, so value for money seemd poor, especially when compared to other restaurants in Brick lane.
