The Queen Adelaide
About The Queen Adelaide
There’s always a twinge of sadness when older London landmarks go under a facelift -- beautiful original features disappear, replaced with uniform mass-produced modern materials. However, Wandsworth’s Queen Adelaide has got the refurb balance just right. Built in 1786, this gastropub has been brought back to life with enhanced period features creating a lighter, brighter traditional venue with well-thought modern twists. The garden has been carefully landscaped with covered, heated decking so it can be enjoyed in even the most miserable of British winters. Beer lovers are spoilt for choice with an extensive list of unusual guest brews, while the wine list boasts over 40 wines available by both the glass and bottle.

From the outside The Queen Adelaide is not obviously somewhere worth stopping at but first impressions should be ignored in this case. The pub area is a cosy section with leather armchairs. The restaurant area is in a large extension at the back with a wooden floor and tables of different shapes and sizes. On our visit the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The menu was varied and the shoulder of lamb and fish & chips were very good - huge portions too. I'd certainly go again.
Being "just a pub", I have to say I wasn't expecting much from The Queen Adelaide. I have to say that I was extremely pleased to find a real gem of a local pub with lovely, pleasant staff; nice selection of beers; good food - really good, in fact! - and a well-thought-through outside-yet-covered section for those with kids who want to be outside but not in the den of the smokers! Great pub. Good food. Just a really nice place. Recommended!
Excellent pub. Good reds on the wine list at sensible prices. Would definitely return!
The Queen Adelaide on Putney Bridge Road, Wandsworth provides good pub food served by friendly staff. The restaurant area itself is lovely too.
An excellent evening out - good quality food at a decent price, enough people in the pub to have a really good atmosphere but there were still free tables so felt we could have walked in without booking and still been able to eat. Would definitely go back and would definitely recommend.
