The Bountiful Cow

About The Bountiful Cow

The Bountiful Cow is one generous beast: a public house devoted to beef. Executive chef Roxy Beaujolais (of Seven Stars and TV fame) serves large steaks and larger burgers at pubby prices, plus cask-conditioned ales and good wines. The young, relaxed ambience features bright décor, cowboy film posters and moo-cow ads. Dine in banquettes, or on Lloyd Loom chairs, at oak tables—either at bar level, or downstairs, with the kitchen entertainingly visible through glass. The menus feature aged steaks and burgers (free toppings if you wish), and other dishes; even some vegetarian ones. Did we mention that portions are large?

This was my first visit to The Bountiful Cow. I was pleasantly suppressed by its relaxed atmosphere which made conversation with my clients easy and enjoyable. The food arrived quickly even though it was a busy Friday lunchtime. The Rib Eye was packed with flavour and cooked to perfection. The staff were friendly and responded well to our requests. I would recommend The Bountiful Cow for both personal and business engagements.

We are regulars at the Bountiful Cowand unfortunately the service on this last visit disappointed. We waited a long time for our meal and the nice waitress who is usually there was not working. My fillet was overcooked, though my partner's was cooked perfectly. The steaks were deliciously tender.

The Bountiful Cow never fails to impress. The staff are so charming and the steak (for which it is primarily known) is so good that, coupled with a far better wine list than you'd expect to find in a pub and great prices all round, it's one we'll go back to again and again. Oh, by the way, albeit steak is it's thing, vegetarians have a decent choice too and portion sizes are generous.

Dependably charming service and delicious feed. I enjoyed my bounty burger and my companion had the rarebit with lashings of cheese. Divine! Not many other people in the place but still service was attentive without being overboard.

Great food. To my surprise they got the medium and medium rare steak right. Amazing filet steak (one of the best I have had). The green pepper sauce is not that great. Their wine range is not the best but other drinks are good. Toliets are really really smelly!
