About The Bountiful Cow

Proprietor Roxy Beaujolais has plenty of form: she is author of the classic pub cookbook, “Home From the Inn Contented,” and was co-presenter of the BBC’s “Full On Food.” Now she’s turned a 1960s pub into a public house devoted to beef—serving the finest steaks and burgers at unbeatable prices, alongside cask-conditioned ales and excellent wines. Her new design achieves the right balance between funky bistro and stylish saloon.

The menu focuses on exceptionally large and well-made hamburgers (dubbed Bountyburgers), and of course, on steak. Five cuts of beefsteak aged in-house are featured. Starters, chips, salads and desserts are appropriately simple and excellent, and the meat is always done to order with exact perfection by the grill chefs. With luscious vegetarian dishes too!

Toptable says about The Bountiful Cow

The Bountiful Cow is one generous beast: a public house devoted to beef. Executive chef Roxy Beaujolais (of Seven Stars and TV fame) serves large steaks and larger burgers at pubby prices, plus cask-conditioned ales and good wines. The young, relaxed ambience features bright décor, cowboy film posters and moo-cow ads. Dine in banquettes, or on Lloyd Loom chairs, at oak tables-either at bar level, or downstairs, with the kitchen entertainingly visible through glass. The menus feature aged steaks and burgers (free toppings if you wish), and other dishes; even some vegetarian ones. Did we mention that portions are large?

I sat for lunch at the Bountiful Cow using the reward points. Service was excellent and always with a smile, they immediately gave me a rewards menu card when sitting down as I always expect to have to explain offers booked no matter where I book. Food was pretty average though, large portions but my starter was too salty and main was not cooked enough. Dessert was very good though. Good ambience as it was full upstairs. For equivalent meal paid for though, would have been too expensive.

We had a very nice meal in the Bountiful Cow. The Sephardic pate to start was excellent. We all has steaks, I had a T-Bone which was very tasty and cooked to perfection. My colleagues had Sirloin and fillet Steaks and they were also excellent. The service was very friendly and attentive. The only negative thing was that there was a large table of extremely loud students who'd had too much to drink but that was just bad luck. I would definitely come back again.

The Bountiful Cow is close to my office and my colleagues and I use it regularly for lunch. The steaks are always good, and the service (although slow at times) is always friendly. I was happy to go there on my own for a quick bite to eat, and the staff looked after me very well.

Third time at Bountiful Cow and have loved it every time. Last night's burger was one of the best, and certainly the biggest, I've ever eaten. Slightly disappointed with the creme brulee but, let's face it, I was only really there for the beef!
