Rasoi Vineet Bhatia

About Rasoi Vineet Bhatia

Rasoi means 'kitchen' and, in this case, also means fabulous, award-winning, bravura cooking. Vineet Bhatia is the chef who won Zaika the first Michelin star ever for an Indian restaurant, now he has opened this intimate, upmarket, charming townhouse restaurant in Chelsea. Rooms are smart modern with splashes of colourful Indian saris and artwork. The 'evolved Indian' menu may include dishes like starter of assorted sea scallops which are spice-crusted, chilli, sesame and onion seed, main course of grilled spice marinated duck escalopes with hot tamarind chutney, sauteed garlic shiitake mushrooms and onion fritters, and pudding of poached pear, ginger, and yoghurt cheesecake with blueberries and fennel sorbet. Superb wines.

Fantastic food, environment and hosts. Remains the best Indian I've ever been to.

A group of 5 of us ate at Rasoi recently, and overall we enjoyed the visit. The service was great, the room we sat in (a former conservatory) was lovely, and the food was good. Some of the dishes did not seem to work in their entirely...elements would be outstanding but a sauce, or an accompaniment, would strike a wrong note. Also, the vegetarian main (some sort of vegetable loaf) that one of our diners ordered was simply okay - definitely weak for a restaurant of this caliber.

We went to Rasoi last Friday night and were seeted upstairs in a room with only two tables. The setting felt very nice and private. The food was very good, but seemed a bit pricey for what it was. For a more upscale Indian restaurant we prefer Cinnamon Club.
