Axis Bar & The Restaurant

About Axis Bar & The Restaurant

Axis occupies part of the ground floor overlooking the courtyard of the Hilton Islington and does a very good job of keeping up with the Joneses (the Business Design Exhibition Centre is next door). A very design-led space, it's furnished with comfy sofas, rthe pefect place to unwind infront of the floor to ceiling windows; rather dramatic. The food is Mediterranean combined with traditional british. Daily-changing mezze are the dishes to start with, favourites include Patatas Bravas and Parma Ham with roasted Plums. Diners are predominantly business people and hotel guests, though couples do come in the evening when low lighting and candlelight create a nice, romantic atmosphere.

I was very unimpressed with this 'restaurant', wasn't expecting it to be the internal restaurant to a hotel.

Went to Axis on Sunday evening. No atmosphere whatsoever... Food and service fair at best, not value for money...

Went for lunch at Axis as we were at an exhibition at the buisness design center. We sat outside and after seing someone elses chicken kebab we all had it. It was not a let down served with flatbread and fresh salad was perfect. The only down side was that our chips turned up after we ate but it was lovely sitting outside in the sun so we can let that slide and the staff were nice.

The place was not that we expected, and the menu had no resemblence of the sample menu we saw online. We left before eating.
