A frontrunner of the tapas explosion, Beckenham’s El Molino restaurant was serving authentic Spanish nibbles as far back as 1991. Still going, stronger than ever, El Molino remains one of the region’s most popular restaurants and it isn’t difficult to understand why people just keep coming back time and again, such is the relaxed, understated atmosphere and the delicious, extremely authentic food that puts the nation’s numerous imitators to shame. Based around the flavours of Galicia, the northwestern region of Spain, El Molino’s menu includes numerous small tapas dishes as well as a range of traditionally cooked paellas made with carefully sourced ingredients appropriate to the origins of the recipes used. The El Molino team is rightfully proud, not just of their food and wine – a fine selection of Spanish bottles available – but of their high level of service as well.
