Le Cassoulet
About Le Cassoulet
Causing a stir in South Croydon, Le Cassoulet opened its doors in February 2008 as Head Chef Malcolm John’s second venture. Awarded a prestigious Bib Gourmand by the Michelin Guide in 2009, and regularly wowing critics, Le Cassoulet has become a firm favourite with discerning diners in the surrounding area. A country-style French bistro, Le Cassoulet offers the best of rustic French cuisine based on the dishes and specialities of South West France. The ambience is warm and intimate, and the service friendly and charming. The wide-ranging menu changes seasonally to ensure fresh produce at all times. We love the fillet of wild sea bass, braised fennel, saffron potatoes bisque; and the côte de boeuf with sauce béarnaise.

Dinner at Le Cassoulet in Soutrh Croydon on Saturday evening was as good as usual - between the four of us we had the roasted cod, calves liver and sea trout and all thorouighly enjoyed.Starters included asparagus, chicken liver parfait and the pear, walnut and parmesadan salad with desserts including the superb tarte tartin!! Very lively atmposphere (unusually)..... made it a most enjoyable time.
Another lovely meal at Le Cassoulet, and the lunchtime deal is really good value. Also my partner is a coeliac, and they were greta in ensuring he had a gluten free meal. Only downside is that on a Saturday lunchtime, the restaurant was pretty empty, but I've been before and it has been full, so just a quiet day I guess.
Good food although the service was a tad slow
Le Cassoulet in South Croydon provided an excellent night out. The service and atmosphere was extremely classy, giving us a night with excellent value for money. A restaurant that could easily be found in Chelsea.
The set meal is a good deal. 3 courses for £27.95 is good. but I opted for the foie gras starter which was an additional £3 supplement (which is often the case for this extravagance) but the portion was very very mean. especially as i paid extra! A handful of green leaves, and the smallest slice of ballotine foie gras. The belly of pork main was tasty, but very very fatty, about 2 x 3 cms strips running through it, over half. the choc fondant desert was delicious.
