El Cantara

About El Cantara

Located in Frith Street, El Cantara is the epicentre of Soho's Spanish and Moroccan communities. Much-loved for its authentic fare, this is a true neighbourhood restaurant where people meet to share good food, good company and lots of laughter. We love El Cantara for its eclectic crowd, welcoming atmosphere, shisha terrace, and menu filled with classic Spanish and Moroccan dishes. Favourites include the charmoula sardinas – oven-baked sardines served with a mixed herb crust; the Jawaneh – grilled chicken wings in a fragrant orange and paprika marinade; and the Moroccan lamb tagine. El Cantara has a wine list with bottles from Spain, France and Chile which is annotated with helpful tasting notes.

El cantara in Soho is a cosy restuarant that is great for smaller groups. I went there for a birthday dinner and the staff were attentive and friendly. The food is delicious, however quite pricey for what you get. Don't expect to be filled up unless you spend a lot of money, this is more of a "munch while you drink sangria" kind of place to catch up with friends before moving on.

El Cantara, soho is a lively venue with live belly dancing which is a good crack. Ambience is very good and it is a comfortable resto. Food being a mix of Spanish tapas and Moroccan gives a good choice. It is generally pretty good quality, (though I have had better) and I would say portion sizes were a tad small given the prices (and even for Tapas). It's not going to be cheap given in the heart of Soho, but you can get better value in the local I think.

I was really looking forward to my meal at El Cantara and they didn't disappoint! I opted for selecting a few of the tapas dishes for my main while my buddy went for a tagine. All of the dishes were cooked really well and were equally tasty across the board. Cocktails were a bit of a let down, but the wine was good and the Shisha Bar at the top of the restaurant is a real treat. It's a wonderful outside space for a Soho restaurant!

Great restaurant with yummy food. Went there with colleagues from our US HQ. We had to choose from the set menu, but don't let that stop you from going here if you're a big party. It was absolutely delicious and the portions generous. Oh, and the passion fruit mojito is great too!
