El Cantara

About El Cantara

Located in Frith Street, El Cantara is the epicentre of Soho's Spanish and Moroccan communities. Much-loved for its authentic fare, this is a true neighbourhood restaurant where people meet to share good food, good company and lots of laughter. We love El Cantara for its eclectic crowd, welcoming atmosphere, shisha terrace, and menu filled with classic Spanish and Moroccan dishes. Favourites include the charmoula sardinas – oven-baked sardines served with a mixed herb crust; the Jawaneh – grilled chicken wings in a fragrant orange and paprika marinade; and the Moroccan lamb tagine. El Cantara has a wine list with bottles from Spain, France and Chile which is annotated with helpful tasting notes.

Went to El Cantara for the pre theatre dinner. There was some confusion over my booking but, when the food arrived it was very good. The kebab was moist and served with the right amount of salad. The atmosphere was good and we would go back.

This restaurant has very nice decor and atmosphere. My food was very tasty and the set menus are very good value. The downfalls were that one end of my friend's kebab was still raw (about a cm, probably missed the end of the grill) and the service was friendly but ridicuously slow. I'd quite like to give this place another try one day.

Early evening meal, prior to a show. Place was quite empty when we got there but filled up rapidly, and the atmosphere was good. Service was efficient, and friendly, and the food was excellent, but drinks were a little pricey

Great food, nice atmosphere. Only issue was we had booked the pre-theatre offer and had to ask twice before we were given the right menu.

Really nice restaurant! Nice service and good food. I went there with a friend of mine on a Tuesday evening. We had tapas and a main course (tagine). It is a bit pricey and the quantity looks disappointing but we ended up full so all good :)
