In the Royal Lancaster Hotel, the Nipa restaurant has been named after the original Nipa Restaurant in the Landmark Hotel in Bangkok. Lots of teak panelling, traditional Thai furnishings and artefacts lend an authentic air. All the staff dressed in traditional Thai costume are from Thailand - even the lady chefs. This authentic Thai restaurant is one of the first 15 recipients of the 'Thai Select' award - this award has been described as being the first ever Michelin-style award for Thai restaurants proven to be performing to the highest standards of quality and cuisine, and is awarded by the Thai Government. We think this award sums up Nipa Thai rather nicely. What's cooking? Kai Haw Bai Toey - deep fried marinated chicken in pandanus leaves, Kaeng Kiew Warn Kai - chicken in green curry soup, also recommended the Nipa platter - a selection of the chef's special Thai starters.

Always good
Terrific that meal at Nipa .Timeless decor although could do with an update at the frayed edges such as seat upholestry and menus. Nevertheless, amazing food....hands down the best Thai in london imo for food.
One of the best Thai restaurants in London , without doubt . Best coconut curries in town and as another poster commented, very good pad prik. Friendly service i n a refined and quiet setting.
Overall, excellent food. The Pla Rad Prik was delightful - the fish was cooked to perfection and the sauce was exquisite. The Mango Salad and Soft Shell Crab (Yam Ma Meuang Puu Nim) was also very good and the Som Tum was perfect. The crab spring rolls and fried chicken wings were, however, pretty average and overpriced. The decor is traditional and looks a little bit tired. But overall a very good meal.
Nipa in the Royal Lancaster Hotel London meets all the requirements of a good quality hotel restaurant - the food is good, the setting appropriately decorated and service attentive. You go to these restaurants because you know what you are going to get - its a guarantee, like going to McDonalds (no suggestion I do). Nothing outstanding to note, but the guarantee is it will be good, it will be clean, and there will be good service.
