Toptable says about Del Aziz

Close to London Bridge tube, the Bankside branch of Del Aziz on Canvey Street is a hive of activity. This bustling delicatessen and brasserie has a posh-Middle-Eastern-marketplace vibe, and the piles of glossy fruit, chocolates and fresh pastries make Del Aziz a cosy spot to enjoy business breakfasts, mint tea breaks, leisurely lunches and candlelit dinner parties. With chunky wooden tables, fresh flowers and a buzzy crowd, the restaurant is run by dynamic husband and wife duo Shahrokh and Zehra Parvin and the hearty, home cooked menu includes classics such as the spongy semolina Berber pancakes for breakfast served with honey and roasted almonds; the Israeli cous cous salad for lunch; and the tuna burger with honey, harissa and sumac.

This restaurant has been very busy each time I've been and yet the service and food have been really good. Its a great place to go for everyone and I think most will find something on the menu to suit. I note they have highchairs so may go back with the rest of the family one weekend.

Visited Del Aziz with friends on a Thursday, quite quiet but a nice atmosphere. Food was good but not great and service was a bit lacklustre. Was nice and in a good location but wouldn't go again.

We went to Del Aziz for dinner before the cinema. The most noticeable thing about this place is how popular it is - the place was heaving on a Thursday night. The consequence of this was that it was nothing short of a dull roar and I had to shout to be heard, which wasn't ideal. The seats were uncomfortable - wooden blocks and there was nowhere to hang coats. Those points aside, the food was absolutely delicious and the service friendly but promt. Highly recommended.
