Gilgamesh
About Gilgamesh
A round of applause, please, for epic Gilgamesh restaurant, the Camden powerhouse. Celebrity chef Ian Pengelley brings his acclaimed pan-Asian cuisine to this big, bold Babylonian-style space in London’s Camden Town Stables Market development. The open kitchen of the main restaurant invites you to gaze at Pengelley in action as he creates his inventive Asian food. Unusually for a London restaurant, Gilgamesh's dining room itself feels endlessly spacious, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows and a 40ft high ceiling with a retractable roof. A sake sommelier will assist you in exploring the comprehensive menu of more than 30 different sakes and matching them to the dishes you choose. And there’s more. Few London restaurants have bar areas as luxurious and mood-enhancing as the Gilgamesh bar and lounge. You must sample the ornate traditional tea room, which will entice you to stay from noon till late.

Gilgamesh was such a great place to take my friends girls out for Saturday kunch before hitting Camden market. Catching up over deliscious platefuls of vegetarian food was a relaxed affair. We sat at a circular table with a wonderful view of our exotic setting.. The Veggie set menu is interesting with beautifully presented food. Would definitely recommend.
A group of 12 of us went to Gilgamesh to celebrate a birthday. They only take bookings for 7.30pm or 9.30pm for this size of party and then insist on a set menu. They kept us waiting for a long time past our late dining. The set meals were all combined so we have no idea whether all the food was brought out or not - certainly some of our party did not sample some of the food. That said, the food was great. The restaurant is open plan. Waiters ok but have been to more attentive restaurants.
The food was exceptional with really a fine touch of flavours. The extra for signature dishes seemed a little dull until the prawn spring rolls we decided to try anyway arrived. They were incredible. The interior decor is also quite amazing. The restaurant on a early week lunchtimes was nearly empty. The offer is presented it seems in a somewhat misleading way. The menu indicated £49 for two (£29.50) per person. Away at that price was good value
we went to Gilgamesh in camden town on monday 6 february at 7.30. It wasnt busy which worked in our favour as our waitress was very helpful explaining our menu and and making sure we were happy. We went for the tasting menu of £60, which had a mixture of starters, mains( monkfish, rice, beef slices and mash, chicken in a soy sauce) and desserts( creme brulee, sorbets, banana crumble and chocolate fondant. Portions were plenty.fantastic.
Amazing experience in a colourful environment but yet warm and inviting. The 50% offer was great value for money. Very relaxing, we could have easily stayed there all day. The food is wonderful 10/10.
