The Bolingbroke

About The Bolingbroke

Situated at the end of Northcote Road in Clapham, The Bolingbroke is another gastropub gem from the team behind The Stonhouse and The Abbeville. It’s popular all week long with a relaxed after-work crowd and draws in local couples and families at the weekend with a promising brunch menu and excellent Sunday roasts. The interior is comfortably chic with wood-panelling, white-washed walls and a windowed ceiling creating a light and airy setting for laid-back dining. On the menu, there are heart British dishes like steak and ale pie and lamb shank alongside more refined options like sole with thyme and lemon risotto. With the added bonus of a great wine list and friendly staff, The Bolingbroke is definitely one to return to.

Overall a good experience, dining for 2 came out to over £100, 2 courses, mid range bottle of wine a 2 more glasses.. for that money would prefer to go to a proper steakhouse like Gaucho Grill etc. Over-attentive service at the beginning then forgotten about at the end, I had to ask to see the dessert menu long after we'd finished mains. Food was very good though and the staff very friendly.

We went to the bolingbroke on a Friday night, it's a great atmosphere and the staff are really accommodating and friendly. We were starving, so ordered three starters! The pigs cheeks were great, definitely recommend, the squid tempura wasn't tempura and the batter wasn't good. I opted for the seabass, and I was really disappointed - it was bland an watery. However, I hope this is just a one off as my partners meal was good, and the last time we were here it was fantastic.

Bolingbroke, Clapham. Lovely meal. However, staff rude to one of my guests.

Excellent as usual. The calamari was crisp and light, the pig's cheeks with chorizo and lentils was a stand-out and the mussels were fresh and plump. For mains, the dish that won must plaudits was probably the grilled lamb steak but I was also a fan of the rabbit.

The Bolingbroke on Northcote Road is just a great gastro pub. Brilliant service, top class food and a buzzing venue. Nothing not to like, unless it's silence you're after!
