Vivat Bacchus

About Vivat Bacchus

Gourmands go gaga over the exceptional menu at Vivat Bacchus in London Bridge, which offers sensational modern European cuisine with a antipodean South African twist. This chi-chi eatery is popular with city-types and wine-and-cheese nuts alike, and the venue even has a walk-in cheese room and a wine cellar boasting both old and new world wines. As well as an a la carte menu, there are platters, sandwiches and daily specials, and the dining room is always filled with a well-heeled crowd. There is live jazz on Saturday evenings and adventurous eaters will love exotic dishes such as Springbok Burger and Grilled Zebra Steaks.

Took clients for lunch, the venue was nice (surprisingly quiet) and the service was quick and efficient. The food was very tasty and good proportions, we had the set 3 course menu and it was delish! Very well priced so will definately bring my clients (and friends) back.

Just before eating at Vivat Bacchus near London Bridge I learned that the owners used to run one of my favourite restaurants, Browns in Rivonia so I was looking forward to a great time. Lively atmosphere, very busy even on a cold Tuesday evening. I had kangaroo, my companion had steak and both were simple and delicious, as was the English cheeseboard. The wine list is centered on South Africa but has offerings from other countries too. Service was friendly and efficient. Recommended.

We had dinner at Vivat Bacchus, LOndon Bridge, on a wednesday night, and I was surprised to see how full the restaurant was until we were showed to our table, in the basement ... a quieter area. The food end service were very good, nice portion and very tasty. I recommend to anyone looking for a nice place near the station !

Superb cheese room. Good wine choice. Service not fantastic, but not terrible. Very cold draft through the doors.

Mixed opinions. Quite busy and loud. My friends enjoyed their steak and lamb. I had surf and turf which was £30 and I was not impressed. Waiter didn't ask how I wanted the steak cooked - cool, not very tasty lobster and a 6 ounce rump, at least 2 ounces of which was fat and gristle. Extremely disappointing. Wines unremarkable and expensive. Cheese room good - excellent choice. If I go back (big if) I would definitely stick to the platters rather than the more conventional menu.
