Barcelona Tapas Bar y Restaurante

About Barcelona Tapas Bar y Restaurante

Barcelona Tapas Bar Y Restaurant in the City of London near Leadenhall Market and the Lloyds building is the fifth in a chain of popular Spanish restaurants founded by father and son team, Martin and David Dalmau. The group’s tag line is ‘the authentic taste of Spain in London’ – which happily seems to be the case. Barcelona Tapas Bar Y Restaurant is a brightly-painted basement room with orange wall edges decorated with colourful, swirling mosaic tile by designer Donna Reeves which features the trademark lizard. At Barcelona, you feast on an aromatic wealth of delicious tapas – tender beef meat balls, Mediterranean prawns, deep-fried baby calamares, paella, patatas bravas – they’re all on the menu. There are plenty of irresistible vegetarian dishes, too. Excellent homemade crema Catalana, and a fantastic selection of Spanish wines listed by denominación de origen. Real Spanish vibe, especially at the regular Wednesday Tapas ‘n’ Jazz night.

Barcelonas - Tower Hill, London Nice, reasonable tapas. Quite a noisey environment though due to being in the basement.

Food was excellent and staff really friendly. There were 4 of us and had 10 dishes (about £5 ea) which was enough for a light but very tasty dinner. Just make sure you keep dipping the bread in all the sauces! Also, try the cocktails, not expensive for London (£5) and was a good end to the night. One thing though, you may have to remind the bar staff when it's Happy Hour (5-7 when we went on Tuesday) otherwise you could end up paying full price! We'll go again though!
