Indian Room

About Indian Room

A modern, glass-fronted Indian on the burgeoning strip between The Bedford pub and Balham High Road, Indian Room has found itself something of a haven for couples. It must be the serene whiteness (table linen, walls) and candlelight. Then there’s the health-conscious cooking using as little as oil as possible. Well worth trying are the handful of dishes unique to this popular local restaurant, a wonderful apricot chicken Kashmir among them. Chicken madras, and a super-hot chicken vindaloo are consistently the most-ordered of the ‘All Time Favourites.’

Probably one of the best Indian neighbourhood restaurants in south London. As always, the food came up to expectation - and the staff make all the difference too

very pleasant local indian and reasonable value whilst the deal is on. Sister restaurant in Northcote Road is fabulous.

Excellent food, presentation and ambience. However... 1. Other people came into the restaurant AFTER we'd ordered our food and got theirs first. 2. Food was luke-warm 3. We'd ordered rice "for the table" to share, and the waiter neglected to tell us that 3 out of the 5 dishes came with rice. Cheeky way of making more money from us 4. The waiter had to be asked several times to refill our chutneys. Not normally one to complain, but excellent food was let down by bad service

Indian Room, Balham - decor/setting as plush as others say. Service prompt but moody from one but nice and friendly from the second waiter. Food was good but in my opinion over priced, especially the tandoori prawn starter which was lovely but a little lonely all on its own! & the chicken tikka also underwhelmingly sparse, and dry. But the squid starter was a welcome difference to the usual Indian starter selection. Apricot special v.nice if a little bland.Very busy popular place. May go back.
