Afternoon Tea is back and Sofitel St James’ Rose Lounge is leading the way. Imagine if your great auntie had style and you’re half way to the Rose Lounge’s look – pink floral prints and gold trim are de-Cartlanded to beautiful effect giving a feminine but sophisticated feel. Deep sofas are surrounded by bowls overflowing with fresh roses, books line shelves and an original fifties chandelier hangs from the ceiling. A unique dinner service designed especially for the hotel is just the start of an afternoon tea to remember – a selection of speciality teas are accompanied by tiny finger sandwiches, homemade scones and delicate Parisienne pastries. Pure decadence.

Good food and interesting atmosphere - hotel has a boutique feel - certainly worth andother visit
The Rose lounge reliably delivers a memorable experience. Staff are incredibly attentive and the scones and treats lovely. Tiny slips in the service can surely be rectified: the additional hot water for a rose infusion was served in a jug that must have contained coffee in a previous round: while the first cups of tea were splending, the later ones had a coffee aftertaste! Please, please Sofitel, do segregate teapots from coffee pots. But keep up the excellent afternoon crea tea tradition.

Took a friend to The Rose Lounge for afternoon tea and was not disappointed! Afternoon tea is all about the surroundings for me (and the cake!!) and The Rose Lounge was just beautiful - lounged there for over two hours, catching up and eating delicious french pastries and scones, whilst a harpist played behind us. Perfect way to drown out the hectic christmas shoppers outside! Would definitely return.
