Toptable says about Rainforest Cafe

The Rainforest Café, near Piccadilly Circus, epitomizes the words "kid friendly". Recreating the sights and sounds of the Amazon rainforest, the restaurant is awash with special effects such as thunder, lightening, tropical rain showers and cascading waterfalls. Both kids and adults alike will find plenty on the menu to please, with many organic children's choices as well. Favourites for adults include the tender pork ribs with Rainforest BBQ sauce as well as the savage steak sandwhich, while younger visitors seem to rave over the organic ham with cheesy pasta.

The Rainforest Café 2024 Shaftesbury Ave, London W1 0845 345 1727 over the top and proud of it with its Vegas Amazon, mechanical beasties, the continual monkey cries, stools in the shape of zebra legs and a fake thunderstorm (minus shower) every half hour. Worst of all, it celebrates one of the most vulnerable environments on earth, while waving the flag of globalisation. Sure, it makes token efforts to support relevant charities specific dishes generate 10p 25p towards purchasing a rainforest in Ecuador but it feels like a diversion tactic. Why bother when you sell wooden toys that dont appear to come from sustainable forests? When none of the goods in evidence are Fair Trade? When you instigate systems that waste paper and card that could, so easily, come from recycled materials. Food is bulkstandard burgers and steaks, and not even good ones and, on this visit, came with cold fries. Very impressive. Desserts have cloying names, like Sparkling Volcano, and cloying execution: youd get more taste and less sugar from a pound of crème eggs. Service is smiley, and child friendly but it feels like forced and designed to stop you questioning the abundant examples of immorality on display. Hideous. With a capital hideous.

The Rainforest Cafe is great for families with young children. The staff were very welcoming and service was attentive. Prices were a lttle on the high side but well presented and good portions. The rainforest sound track can be a litte intrusive at times. A memorable experience all the same.

The Rainforest is great for kids in its atmosphere and kids menu. The wait staff is always good the only problem is that there aren't enough of them and it takes a LONG time to have a meal there! It is also very expensive.

Went to the Rainforest Cafe yesterday with 2 children 5 & 13. Brilliant place to take them, they enjoyed exploring. Food was very tasty though on the expensive side so would only go again as a very special treat.

The rainforest cafe is somewhere to visit if only experience the unusual atmosphere.

The food is pretty standard but palatable but the cocktails are highly recommended.
