Overlooking London's River Thames, Mezzanine is one of two restaurants located in the iconic National Theatre on London’s South Bank. I visited Mezzanine at the National Theatre for a pre-theatre dinner on a Saturday evening. The service, as you would expect, was very quick and efficient, but the food was hit and miss. Starters (rabbit and kale ragout and wild boar ravioli respectively) were delicious, but the mains were a mixed bag - duck was enjoyable but the partridge was overcooked, tough and chewy. We were offered a complimentary dessert, and on declining a discount was applied to the bill, which was appreciated.

Mezzanine, located on the first floor of London's National Theatre was a really pleasant surprise for a pre-theatre supper. The food was simple but excellent, the staff courteous and the fixed price dinner very good value. Highly recommend it to anyone attending a South Bank performance or event.

Don't sit on the right side if you want to hold a conversation as if the performers are playing you need to shout!
