Russell Square

This pretty square in Bloomsbury has a rich history just waiting to be explored. Look out for the many blue plaques on the surrounding houses, which commemorate famous former residents. Every Friday at 2pm a guided walk sets off from the tube. The tour provides a fascinating look at some of the university's most curious specimens, including a Dodo and a Tasmanian Tiger. During the summer the fountain in the middle of the square is a favourite with children, who dart through the jets of water to get a good soaking!
