Latest 1 reviews of Two Willow Road
A modernist gem
This place is really worth visiting if you're interested in the modernist movement in architecture. Whilst the building is not a stunning example of the genre, it has the great advantage of actually being a leading architect's house.
It is preserved with all the original interior features, so it has a real atmosphere and vibe to it that some more impressive buildings lack.
It is modernism on a domestic scale and shows you how the style can be very human and practical, in contrast to some of the massive ideological statements of the movement.
Oh yes and if you're wondering about a possible James Bond connection with Goldfinger - you're absolutely right! Fleming used the name for a villain as he hated modern architecture.
