Polka Theatre

About Polka Theatre

Polka Theatre is one of the few theatre venues in the country dedicated to children and young people. For the past 25 years, we have created and presented innovative and challenging theatre for young people. Our unique, child-centred building houses two performance spaces, a playground, a cafe, a small toyshop, exhibition areas and reading corners. In addition to our year round programme of productions, we also run a number of creative participatory activities, including after-school drama courses, and one-off holiday workshops in dance, drama and more.

It's all about the kids at this magical theatre. It's one of the few places in the country that stages productions exclusively for children and young people. From babies to teenagers, everyone will love the lively shows, where audience participation is positively encouraged! There is also plenty of space to run and play in the child-friendly foyer, playground and gardens.

just returned from a fantastic production of Charlie and Lola last weekend. we went to the London eye and then took a train from waterloo to wimbledon, specifically to see the Charlie and Lola "bestest play"!

it was my first trip to Polka, and I so recommend it. my daughter is 4+ and she was absolutely enthralled!

the theatre was so child friendly, lots of seats and cushions for little people, loads to do before the production....books to read, rocking horses and other animals!,exhibition of teddy bears, chinese exhibition, outdoor playground, cafe and good toilet facilities too.

the production was about 75 minutes with a 15 minute interval. it combined very clever puppets, with 2 and 3D props and mixed with the puppeteers. it all worked really well.

it was the penultimate show, and it exceeded all my expectations.

would definitely visit polka theatre again.
