Toptable says about Quadrato Restaurant

The five star Four Seasons Hotel arrived in Canary Wharf bringing yet another fine restaurant to the area. The hotel's Quadrato Restaurant serves northern Italian fare stunningly from an exhibition kitchen in the centre of the restaurant to provide diners with a view of just what the chefs are up to. In the summer there is an outside terrace with seating for 35.

What's cooking?

Signature dishes include Caesar salad, gnocchi, roasted seabass, pomodorini and black olives, fresh catch mixed grill with Tuscan extra virgin olive oil. Vegetarian lasagne and vegetable tempura for a vegetarian choice.

restaurantguides.co.uk review of Quadrato Restaurant

Its always a challenge to recreate the experience of real Italian dining in the UK but at Quadrato, chef Marco Bax has done a fine job of importing his native, northern Italian (and beyond) cooking to the unpromising setting of the Four Seasons Hotel in Canary Wharf. The restaurant is quiet and intimate and typical patrons are, inevitably, the bankers, lawyers and corporate entertainers of Londons new financial centre. Roasted tiger prawns and squid with celery salad, lime hummus, and yoghurt dressing was succulent and flavoursome. Ovenbaked rump of lamb, which was simply presented with horseradish, garden vegetables and rosemary. Risotto mantecato with radicchio and Dolcelatte was also first rate. Mantecato means creamy, and this perfectly cooked risotto, perfumed by the blue cheese, certainly was. I find Italian desserts to so often be triumphs of style over taste, big flouncy things that promise so much and deliver so little. And nothing disappoints like bad Tiramisu. However, Quadratos version, more creamy than alcoholic, was excellent and beautifully presented with a mini pool of chocolate sauce.

I booked Quadrato on a Monday night. Service was excellent, hugely attentive without being obtrusive, and the restaurant was gorgeous looking with tasteful decoration and classy, unfussy table settings, but unfortunately the food wasn't up to the standard of the rest of the place. Snapper was bland and poorly conceived as a dish, whilst the pungent raw fish amuse-bouche was a nice idea but as likely to turn a diner off their meal as pique their appetite. Menu also has a very limited choice.

I took my team to Quadratos for a Xmas Lunch. The food was consistently very good for all the selections. The service was very attentive and professional. Lost marks on value for money as I felt the water at £6 per bottle was a little steep. Also, the cheapest wine was around £28 per bottle. I will be back with a smaller group or even with just as a couple in the evening.

Quadrato's at the Four Seasons, Canary Wharf, if a great restaurant. They had a white truffle special menu on in addition to their normal fayre which was a pleasant surprise. Great food. Great service. Not the cheapest place in the world, so perhaps scores less on the "value" scale, but a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Slightly quiet as it's a hotel restaurant but that was fine by us.

Quadrato never dissapoints! The service was discreet and impeccable, the food was delicious and the whole experience is highly recommended. I had the John Dory as my main course and it was prepared beautifully. This was not a cheap evening but it was worth the money.
