The Drapers Arms

About The Drapers Arms

This suitably hip pub in Islington has an avuncular demeanor with lashings of retro 50s charm. The elegant restaurant and bar on Barnsbury Street, between Highbury and Islington and Angel stations, is tucked away off the High Street giving it genuine neighbourhood credentials. We love the bright green wooden bar, pale duck egg blue walls, molded ceilings and the black and white diamond ‘tiles’ painted on the floorboards. The Drapers Arms has a gorgeous garden, and the kitchen has earned an acclaimed Michelin Bib Gourmand. The menu includes gems such as the lemon sole with brown shrimps, capers and butter, and the bread and butter pudding with rum and raisin ice cream.

Drapers Arms - pretty good lunch at the Drapers with some friends. Had the duck rillettes which was tasty, perhaps a little oily. Had the puy lentils, roast veg and goats curd for main which was suprisingky tasty. Pretty good service as well - recommend for a group meal.

The Drapers Arms in Barnsbury has a lovely relaxed gastro pub feel to it. the menu is quite limited but the food was great and I really liked thast they gave you good bread and butter and a jug of tap water as standard. The Buttermilk and Rhubarb pudding was as good as all the reviews on here say!

The food here is lovely as always. On busy nights like Fridays it's really really noisy and some older members of our group found it difficult to hear. Every time we have been to The Drapers it has been really hot, however the waitress did open the door for us last night. I would say the service could use some improvement. We waited for long periods with no drinks and the food was very stilted in coming out- maybe thats because they were busy. So overall the food is definitely worth it- as long as your ok to deal with the other minor issues.
