About Prince Of Wales

The Prince of Wales is a traditional English pub and one of the oldest in Wimbledon. Standing majestically across the road from Wimbledon train and tube station, The Prince of Wales has more to offer than meets the eye. Originally a coaching inn from the 17th Century, the house often served as a refuge for the infamous Dick Turpin during the notorious highwaymen years. Dick may no longer be seeking refuge, but this does not deter the many patrons who visit to enjoy the atmosphere, food and to visit the friendliest pub in Wimbledon.

The old cellar, now Berties Bar, Kitchen and Courtyard was first built to stable horses of travellers staying at the hotel. Berties opened in 1971 and much of the original stonework was demolished with only the cobbles beneath the flagstones remaining as a reminder of the past.

As a Taylor Walker pub, we are proud to offer freshly prepared British pub food and high quality drinks. With experienced and friendly staff, whether you are a cask ale fan, love a chilled glass of white wine or a freshly ground cup of coffee, we will serve you in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Join us for a classic British dish such as hand battered cod, chips and mushy or garden peas, a juicy rump steak burger and chips or a roast of the day seven days a week. Our pub food is freshly prepared and includes all your favourites. We also offer a range of sandwiches and jacket potatoes, all served by our welcoming and friendly team.

We are happy to offer function facilities at The Prince of Wales and can cater for parties as we as having a first floor completely dedicated to training and business meetings.
