Provocative contemporary art
If you are interested in contemporary art - The White cube is a must - they now have two locations, so there is a much better chance of actually seeing some art! The Hoxton Square gallery was closed a couple of times when we tried to go- and its a bit of a trek - so make sure its open before you head out! The one in the St James area has two nice sized gallery spaces, one upstairs and one down and this location is much more convenient if you only have a short time in London.

Anselm Kiefer
Exhibition16 Oct 2009 to 14 Nov 2009
Anselm Kiefers painting, sculpture and installation have made him among the most important artists of his generation. Kiefer studied with Joseph Beuys in the early 1970s, but soon began to develop his own, deliberately indigenous set of subjects and symbols that he used to explore the fraught territory of German history and identity. In his muscular artistic language, physical materiality and visual complexity enliven his themes and content with a rich, vibrant tactility.

Damien Hirst
Exhibition25 Nov 2009 to 30 Jan 2010
This solo exhibition features work by British artist Damien Hirst. Hirst's wide-ranging practice of installations, sculpture, painting and drawing has sought to challenge the boundaries between art, science and popular culture. His energy and inventiveness, and his consistently visceral, visually arresting work, has made him a leading artist of his generation. Hirst explores the uncertainty at the core of human experience like love, life, death, loyalty and betrayal through unexpected and unconventional media.
