About Moti Mahal

Moti Mahal is the chic London outpost of the celebrated Delhi restaurant which opened in 1959. ‘Un unexpected delight’ (Harden’s guide) Moti Mahal is presenting its menu the Grand Trunk Road. Inspired by the culinary roots of rural India particularly along the famed Grand Trunk Road, Chef Anirudh Arora has brought to us time honored dishes and recipes. By accentuating new tastes and flavors from India's richly woven history, the new menu at Moti Mahal is a feast for the senses.

A perfect setting with curved glass-fronted kitchen and gleaming copper bar and an attentive service will transform your meal in a memorable experience plus is perfect before a show.

Toptable says about Moti Mahal

toptable Dining Awards 2009 - Runner Up: Best for Dining with friends Of sound Delhi pedigree, Moti Mahal is a very good-looking modern Indian restaurant of crisply laid tables, chic leather and wood seating, glitzy chandeliers and a copper-backed open kitchen exposing the chefs at their tandoor ovens. Lunchtimes attract a middle-aged corporate crowd, while evenings see the same business people mixing with smart friends, family and theatergoers. Moti Mahal does traditional Indian food very well, although it's more accurate to say traditional with a contemporary twist, best exemplified by the starters - deep fried seabass with carom seeds and ginger being a fine example- and desserts. The menu covers a few Indian regions - the meaty, smoky kebabs from the Northwest Frontier are particularly good.

Moti Mahal - food was nice, service & ambience not brilliant (i think upstairs would have been better than downstairs). Drinks expensive, worth it with the top table offer but I wouldn't be willing to pay full price!

It was my first visit to Moti Mahal and the service is a bit scatty but they were extremely friendly and did not mind that one of our friends turned up 30mins late. Food was good, the tikka out of this world, but the desert on the set menu is a bit lame. Prices of drinks are high but can't complain when using the 50% off.

food very nice, very tasty. Did the top table offer, so it worked out good value. Portions may be quite small for the hungry ones though! One waiter was very charming. The other was less attentive - maybe he was just shy?! The restaurant also telephoned me to confirm booking - good idea!

We were slightly worried as we sat down at Moti Mahal when they whisked away our nice menus to replace them with a sheet of A4 (the Toptable set menu). We were very pleasantly surprised when the food arrived, as although not in huge quantities, it tasted very good and was very well presented. Also included are nice 'nibbles' in between the courses that aren't mentioned on the menu. Don't be put off by first impressions if you go, just relax and enjoy the meal.
