Boxwood Cafe

Lonely Planet review of Boxwood Cafe

Reviewed by: Lonely Planet

Gordon Ramsay's New York-style (almost) café is the kind of place you can come for a single course or a glass of wine, and while the décor is a little bland - way too dark in the depths of the main restaurant - the food is generally first rate. Simple starters like fried West Mersea oysters with fennel and lemon, salmon ceviche and glazed pea and leek tart are generally tastier than the fussier main courses. Run-the-gamut tasting menus start from around 50.

Please note, Boxwood Cafe only accepts bookings of up to 4 people through toptable.Gordon Ramsay fans and anyone with exacting standards will relish dining at his Boxwood Café, another feather in Ramsay's ever-expanding restaurant cap. Located in the Uber glam Berkeley hotel in Knightsbridge, it has the feel of a sleek New York, luxury café, thanks to décor by top US interior designer Barbara Barry. Head chef Stuart Gillies serves up seasonal modern British fayre with local ingredients. Families are particularly well-catered for here with children's menus, crayons and high chairs available.
