Joanna's

About Joanna's

Quite possibly Crystal Palace’s favourite restaurant, Joanna’s is critically and publically acclaimed, with good reason. Dating way back to the 1970s, Joanna’s has weathered many a culinary storm and remained as current as the most modern restaurants springing up around the capital. Run by the Ellner family since its very first day, Joanna’s comfortable atmosphere owes as much to its cheerful, welcoming staff as to its cosy, wood panelled dining room wher a soundtrack of smooth jazz provides an easy backdrop to dinner. Once the kitchen purveyed American diner style eating, however Joanna’s has moved with the times, now offering contemporary international flavours (although the Joanna’s burger remains a favourite for good reason) plus a glorious traditional Sunday lunch and unmissable breakfasts too.

Joanna's in Crystal Palace is my favourite local restaurant. I always look forward to going here and it always delivers on food, service and ambiance. French bistro-like with a buzz of activity yet intimate and suitable for romance, a gathering of friends, or business dining.

Joanna's in crystal palace is a lovely place for a romantic dinner, with good service and reasonable European French cuisine. The food however does seem to lack flair, originality, and excellence. Having said that we did have a nice overall meal, only to be quite surprised at the price of £70 for the two of us, having ordered the cheapest bottle of wine on the menu, of which there wasn't a huge choice. Best European food in cp, but nothing compared to their Thai neighbours, Tamnag Thai.

Good food. Perhaps not the most exciting option on the Triangle (The Exhibition Rooms and the Sparrowhalk I think are a slight cut above) but still reliable. I find the starters limited in choice, but there is more to choose from on the mains. The food was well cooked and my husband was more than delighted with his burger,

Joanna's, Crystal Palace. Excellent, despite scoring a couple of own goals,We were 5 celebrating my daughter's birthday. An excellent Rose champagne accompanied our starters: crab (3) stilton salad and calamari all were excellent. The mains disappoointed: an expensive rib steak was overdone rather than medium rare/rare, and the scallops(£18 a pop) were cold. However, management responded impeccably replacing he offending dishes with no fuss. The desserts were to die for. We'll return.
