The Lawn Bistro
About The Lawn Bistro
The Lawn Bistro is a smart, elegant and unassuming restaurant in the centre of London’s Wimbledon Village. Located on the High Street on the site formerly occupied by Lydon’s, the Lawn Bistro is a seriously polished affair with minimalist, monochromatic décor and a confident menu by chef Ollie Couilaud, who previously worked at La Trompette, Bord’eaux, The Square and Tom’s Kitchen. Attracting a well-coiffed, fashionable crowd, the restaurant has earned critical acclaim for its modern French menu complete with a British twist and its switched on, professional service. The neutral, chic interior is a suitable setting for casual lunch dates, business dining and dinner parties, and the menu offers everything from croque monsieurs and posh salads to melt-in-your-mouth millfeuilles alongside prix fixe menus. A little neighbourhood gem, the Lawn Bistro is a highlight on the Wimbledon dining scene.

The Lawn Bistro - Wimbledon Great food ambience isn't as intimate as Chez Bruce and service
We returned to The Lawn Bistro in Wimbledon Village to sample their Early Evening Menu - £24.95 for three courses + a glass of wine. We received a friendly welcome and sat at a window table to watch the world go by. The EEM offers several choices and represents very good value. Food is interesting, different and cooked to a high standard. With good service, and a buzzy atmosphere we welcome having an independent restaurant in the Village High Street.
We had known Lydons well but this was our first visit to Lawn Bistro. Not the best evening as noisy large group attending a reception marred our experience. However, food was superb and a warm welcome from restaurant manager helped as we were repeatedly told that group would be leaving/moving to private dining area which did not happen whilst we were there. We willl definitely return and hope for a better experience. Cannot fault the very excellent food and presentation.
As fans of Lydons we went to the Lawn Bistro in Wimbledon and vowed to look at it afresh as a new restaurant. The welcome was warm, menu interesting the wine list impressive and well priced (very French). However, table was cramped (mains didn't fit), food not quite hot enough and there is no way this is a £25 restaurant! Quite characterless and lacking ambiance of restaurant it replaced; nice but too similar to others in area that are more reasonably priced. Nice evening but not rushing back.
We had yet another great meal at The Lawn Bistro in Wimbledon...it is fast becoming our favourite find. We had the Early Diner's menu which is a special set menu including wine if one orders before 7:15. The choices are excellent, and we felt that the meal was excellent value. I would highly recommend The Lawn Bistro!
