Axis at One Aldwych has a stylish design and exciting Modern British menus. Tony Fleming, the Executive Chef, has created a fantastic menu inspired by the best seasonal ingredients with dishes such as; Mussel and saffron soup, Pan fried calves liver with crispy pancetta, mousseline potato and onion gravy and Blackberry and apple jelly with cinnamon ice cream and calvados foam.
A weekly fixed price menu is available at lunchtime and for pre and post theatre supper – ideal for the restaurant’s location in Covent Garden, at the heart of Theatreland.
Enjoy a pre-dinner drink in the restaurant’s Rotunda Bar offering a varied selection of wines by the glass and delicious cocktails. The tasty bar food is a treat in itself – potted shrimps with sourdough and Yorkshire pudding with mash and Old Spot sausages.

We had a pre-theatre dinner at Axis at One Aldwych. It was our first visit and we loved the marble surroundings and the subterranean location (? the vaults of the former bank). We ate a la carte but the pre-theatre set menu looked good too. The food was very good although the portions were not over-generous, and only one vegetarian option was available. Interesting dessert cocktails (not sampled). Service was impeccable.
My boss enjoyed a very pleasant client lunch here and will doubtless be back. Food and service up to scratch as usual.

Amazing per theatre menu was delicious and great value
Had early dinner (about 6.30pm) at Axis before theatre on a Saturday and it was very quiet. Restaurant is airy with bright decor, but in a basement which I wasn't thrilled about. 2 of us had a cocktail, starter and a main course with a bottle of wine and sparkling water and bill was just over £100. Service was fantastic - very helpful but not intrusive. Food was good and menu very simple (I think only 3 choices for starters and mains). Perhaps one more choice on the menu would be nice.
