Toptable says about Azou

toptable Dining Awards 2009 - Runner Up: Best Under £25. Small and family-run, Azou is one of the most inviting restaurants on Chiswick's King Street. Marking it out most is the high-quality North African food offering fine flavours from Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria. Delicious dishes include the Tunisian delicacy, brik, which is a crisp pastry starter filled with potato, tuna and egg; and seven varieties of cous cous. To follow, why not try one of four main course specialities such as tagine romanne - chicken breast in a sweet/tangy pomegranate sauce garnished with almonds, raisins and onions. If you visit Azou after a hard day's work, order a mint tea or a glass of wine and make your weary way to the large floor cushions where you can recline around low traditional tables lit by lanterns.

A very pleasant, small restaurant with friendly attentive service. The decor and table settings had a distinct homemade feel, comfortable but not sophisticated. Not the place to impress your first date.

The "brik" starter of tuna, potato and egg, wrapped in crisp pastry, was delicious but a bit of a brick in size.

Main course of lamb shank, chicken ad spicy sausage on cous cous was good but presentation was a bit slapdash. Cous Cous best I have tasted.

Azou is a lovely simple place serving excellent North African dishes (and wines). The cous cous is not surprizingly the best I've had in a long time; the chakchouka equally divine. The seafood tagine was the only thing a bit disappointing. Didn't try the puds. Service was very friendly and attentive, too.

Went to Azou after finding it on my i-phone and then booked through Toptable. A really good find. Very friendly and welcoming and the food (we had veggie options) was delicious. Had to decline the complimentary brandy sadly as I was driving.
