Located in the heart of Hoxton, this modern-day 'local boozer' with its reclaimed-chic interior boasts a great selection of beers, good music and hearty British food. Richard Tewnion joined the team as Head Chef after working in a number of award-winning London restaurants, including The Pig's Ear in Chelsea and Jamie Oliver's Fifteen. The modestly priced menu changes each week and features classic dishes like crab on toast; rump steak; steamed seabass; and rabbit terrine. Bacchus. Think this has recently re-opened (in March 09) and they've done a good job. Pleasant inside, good food and nice staff. Have tried a few different things here, the Sunday roasts are very good and the lemon posset excellent dessert

Quite disappointing...service was good but the food was just average. I had the steak and chips which completely lacked flavour.

Baccus Pub and Kitchen. We'd booked for 7.30pm on Sat evening and when we arrived we were the first! By 8pm the bar area was buzzing and busy. The selection of meals was limited and my son didn't find a starter that he fancied but he chose the steak for main course and said it was the best beef he's tasted in ages. The chocolate brownie was absolutely delicious too, as was the apple crumble and custard. We did find the music good but a little too loud, especially once the bar filled up.

It was an enjoyable evening and there was a good atmosphere. The service was unhurried and the food was very good. I certainly would return again.
