The Brigade Bar and Restaurant is setting the London restaurant scene on fire. Located in the old fire station, built following 1861’s famous Tooley Street Fire and leading to the creation of the first London fire brigades, The Brigade Bar and Restaurant is concerned not just with eating but with bringing people together to build a community enjoying new experiences together. While The Brigade, along with the Beyond Food Foundation, offers catering apprenticeships to the vulnerable, cookery courses, cookery schools for the keen and private dining for the VIP-minded, the centre of this fantastic venue is definitely the bar and restaurant. A sensory experience, guests are met with the aromas of tempting fresh cooking on arrival, the gentle buzz of conversation and attractive, modern surroundings creating a relaxed feel. Combining sophistication and rusticity, The Brigade’s menu focuses on good produce and traditional British cookery, a handful of classics and sharers adding to the mix. Drinks meanwhile are as well thought out as food, with clever cocktails, niche wines and micro-brewery beers making up an intriguing list.

The only criticism of Brigade would be that the carrotts allegedly with caraway and honey appeared to have neither which was rather disappointing. Otherwise food and drinks good though perhaps a little over-priced per se. What you're paying for is attentive but understated service and not being rushed. Also the nice environment.
Bridge Bar in Tooley Street is a great addition to the area. Not the cheapest place you'll find, and quite a mark up on the wine, but good quality and interesting combinations which on the whole work. And even this broccoli denier acknowledges that it's a good sign when a side dish outshines the main meal...
We had a really enjoyable evening; the atmosphere when we initially walked into the bar had a really good buzz – we thoroughly enjoyed the food and the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and bar.
Brigade bar and bistro. Second visit and didn't disappoint. Very good service, friendly and accommodating as pregnant so had some questions on ingredients! TT offer 25% off gives excellent value. Food delicious and desserts divine! Will return.
Brigade Bar and Bistro, London, for dinner. Service, right from arrival, was badly erratic (although our waitress was pretty good). One main dish and two sides were served barely warm. On giving the manager some frank, polite, feedback, he first of all sorted out the lukewarm food, then the chef came to apologise, then a complimentary dessert selection arrived, and then the entire bill was waived. Great problem resolution, and the food - when served hot - is exquisite, showing real talent.
