Balls Brothers Victoria
About Balls Brothers Victoria
Balls Brothers Victoria is a timeless city bar and restaurant, perfect for formal and informal dining and drinking, just moments from the hub that is Victoria Station and within reach of all the sights and sounds of the West End. A London institution for more than fifty years, Balls Brothers is a brand known for its wine, the handful of bars dotted around the capital offering up some of the finest vintages, both affordably sip-able and reassuringly expensive alike. In addition to the impeccable wine list that comes as standard in any Balls Brothers venue, the Victoria branch provides fresh mixed cocktails from either of its two bars as well as a good array of home cooked modern European food available at both lunch and dinner. Large and airy with views out on to busy Buckingham Palace Road, Balls Brothers Victoria also offers pavement seating during the warmer seasons when it becomes an even more popular meeting place.

Efficient business lunch at Balls Brothers in Victoria. Not a long menu but we all enjoyed it.
I would NOT recommend this place to other diners. Despite booking over a week in advance they did not have the booking or a table ready for us. The menu was minimal (no a la carte menu) and food was poor quality. The was a distinct smell of sewage throught the whole time we were there and service was unfriendly.
Visited Balls Brothers by London's Victoria Station for a Saturday lunch. Empty restaurant when first arrived but soon filled up. Absolutely charming waitress. Good wine list. Goats cheese and butternut squash tart was homemade and the filling delicious, but the pastry case was burnt. Mushroom risotto was good. Chicken Caesar average. Not enough dressing in the little sauceboat that accompanied.
This is a really nice place for lunch or a drink, especially in an area where there are mainly 'grotty' pubs, or chain restaurants. The food was pretty good, and also reasonably priced, however, they need to do something about their staff. A best they were shambolic, and at worst, rude and surly. We definitely felt that they wished we weren't there! Otherwise, it's a good place to go.
My friend and I arrived at Balls Brothers in Buckingham Palace Road 2 hours early for our booked lunch due to no tickets being available at the Queen's Gallery but luckily the wine bar wasn't as busy as the palace. We had an pleasant lunch, sharing a generous plate of charcuterie and cheese with a(n indifferent) glass of wine. Service was efficient and friendly and the only fly in the ointment was intrusive music with a booming base which made conversation difficult. Worth a second try.
