Bengal Village

About Bengal Village

Praised by respected food critic Charles Campion as a star among Brick Lane’s famous curry houses, Bengal Village remains true to the roots of its cuisine. Serving authentic Bangladeshi food in sleek, modern surroundings, it's well worth singling out Bengal Village when on the hunt for somewhere good to eat. Service is as slick as one expects from Indian restaurant staff, both attentive and unobtrusive at once with your needs well catered to throughout your visit. Inspired by the home-cooking of Bangladesh, a land of tropical vegetation and tea plantations, Bengal Village sets itself apart too in its cookery, the menu unique in this area. Authentic and of the highest quality, the menu draws on a stock of fresh fish and meat and appropriate herbs and spices to produce curries to order in a traditional ‘handi’. Always taking pride in the variety, flavour and careful preparation of their food, Bengal Village’s chefs are arguably among the most skilled on Brick Lane.

Good food and reasonable prices at Bengal Village. The friendly staff made the evening more enjoyable, thanks!

One of the thing that attracted us to Bengal Village was the lack of people standing outside trying to draw you in with the promise of free drinks or popadoms. The menu lacks the usual English currys, which can only be a good sign. The food was decent, but the wine list is poor, however a cobra does surfice.
